Counselling can provide you with space and time to think about ways to address a problem and how it affects you. The role of the therapist is to support your emotional journey by listening and exploring with you aspects of the problem that are not immediately obvious. Therapy is a relationship built on trust and respect and being understood and accepted can help you to feel significant, increase awareness, raise self esteem and promote change.

Each therapy session will last 50 minutes. Short-term therapy usually consists of 12 sessions, but this can be reviewed during the course of therapy and more sessions offered if required. Short-term therapy is more solution focused and can help to resolve a more immediate crisis. In addition to short-term therapy, open ended therapy may be most appropriate for more deeper rooted and complex issues.


During your therapy sessions you should begin to feel that you are not journeying alone….. and what you bring to therapy should be shared in the knowledge that your sessions are confidential.


Confidentiality is seen as one of the cornerstones of successful therapy. The only exceptions would be supervision requirements also in cases mandated by law such as imminent danger to self and/or other(s) and situations involving child abuse or neglect.
